What Did we Learn from the Vermont Permanency Survey

Dec 09, 2019

The Vermont Quality Improvement Center for Adoption and Guardianship Support and Preservation project, the Vermont Permanency Survey, wanted to determine whether if early outreach is done with all adoptive and guardianship families, will the system of care be able to identify families who are doing well along with families who are struggling. Specifically, the project hoped that outreach would enable the system to understand the strengths and protective factors associated with families who are doing well, and develop a feasible and acceptable process for early identification of families who are struggling or facing elevated challenges post-permanence.

Fifty-five percent of families formed through adoption or guardianship through the Department for Children and Families completed the survey!  To learn more about the survey and what Vermont has learned about these families you can go to the QIC-AG website and watch the Vermont video and read the evaluation reports - click here.
